McKesson Two-Piece Skin Barrier, Flat
The McKesson Two-Piece Skin Barrier is the flat, moldable wafer base of a two-piece ostomy system, designed to create a dependable seal between your stoma and the ostomy appliance. Built around a highly absorbent hydrocolloid that stays stable when exposed to effluent, this flat skin barrier is ideal for stomas that protrude normally and works well for all types of ostomy - colostomy, ileostomy, and urostomy.
Because it is moldable, you simply shape the opening by hand to match your stoma - no scissors and no cutting required. As it conforms, the barrier forms a snug "turtleneck" seal right at the base of the stoma, helping protect the surrounding peristomal skin from output. The excellent adhesive tack holds securely throughout the day, and the moldable form can be used in place of barrier paste for an easy, no-mess removal from skin. As the base of a two-piece system, it lets you remove or change your pouch without disturbing the barrier or irritating your skin.
This is a Standard Wear flat barrier available in multiple purchase options: Single, Box of 20, and Case of 160. It is not made with natural rubber latex and is FSA/HSA eligible. Be sure to choose a barrier whose flange/coupling size matches your pouch. Select your size and option below.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is this a pouch or a skin barrier?
A: This is a skin barrier (also called a wafer or flange) - the adhesive base of a two-piece system. A separate matching pouch attaches to it; the barrier itself does not collect output.
Q: Do I need to cut it to fit my stoma?
A: No. This is a moldable barrier, so you shape the opening by hand to match your stoma - zero cutting required.
Q: Who should use a flat barrier?
A: A flat barrier is best for stomas that protrude normally. If your stoma is flush, recessed, or retracted, a convex barrier may be a better fit.
Q: Will it hold up against output?
A: Yes. The highly absorbent hydrocolloid stays stable when exposed to effluent and provides excellent adhesive tack for a secure, reliable seal.
Q: Is it latex-free and FSA/HSA eligible?
A: Yes. This barrier is not made with natural rubber latex and is FSA/HSA eligible.
